2020 Solstice Flute Youth Camp

Time: 10 am - 5 pm
Where: Zermatt Resort, Midway, Utah
An immersive, day-long discovery of the Native American style flute for youth 10-13. Students will decorate their own personal flute while learning about its history, traditional flute-making styles, Native American totem and symbol meanings, and cultural story-telling practices.
Campers will learn to play the flute while preparing for an onstage performance to open the Solstice Flute School’s ‘Concert Under the Stars’ featuring award-winning Native American flute performing artists.
The inaugural 2020 Solstice Flute Youth Camp is themed “Simple Gifts”, in concert with the overall Solstice Flute and Festival theme of “Gratitude”.
Instructor: Christine Burningham, a K-8 charter school music teacher in Providence, Utah, and board-certified music therapist
What to Expect: 6:1 student/instructor ratio. Students receive an instructional notebook, a new Native American style flute in the key of A, and a T-shirt. Healthy snacks and dinner are provided.
What to bring: Bring a sack lunch. Dress for gentle movement and comfort in both an indoor and outdoor setting.
Class size: Maximum 20 students between the ages of 10 and 13; all musical abilities welcome.
